Medical Missions

Since 2008, our volunteer medical team—formerly known as Operation International-Kids Team—has been delivering free medical and surgical care to children and mothers in some of the world’s most underserved communities. Where healthcare is out of reach, we step in, restoring health, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.

Today, over 5 billion people lack access to safe, affordable surgical and medical care. This global crisis means that preventable suffering continues every day. That’s why our medical missions matter. Each one delivers expert care and sustainable impact, transforming lives, strengthening families, and uplifting entire communities.

Surgical Procedures

Millions of children around the world live with treatable conditions but lack access to the surgical care they need. In many underserved regions, safe and affordable surgery is virtually nonexistent, leaving children to suffer in silence. At XO World Project Foundation, we provide free, life-changing surgical care for children and young adults ages 1 month to 21 years. Our team specializes in procedures that restore mobility, function, and confidence, including cleft lip and palate repair, clubfoot correction, burn scar contracture release, and reconstruction of facial deformities and congenital conditions affecting the limbs.

Our mission goes beyond the operating room. They open the door to education, social inclusion, and a chance to live fully and freely, giving each child a new beginning.

Pediatric Medical Care

Millions of children in underserved regions lack access to even the most basic pediatric care. Without early intervention, preventable illnesses can lead to long-term complications, developmental delays, or even death.

We provide essential pediatric medical services to ensure every child has a chance to grow up healthy and strong. This includes treatment for common infections, growth and development assessments, vaccinations, and parental education.

By addressing basic health needs early, we help prevent complications, support healthy development, and give families the tools to care for their children long after the mission ends.

Cervical and Breast Cancer Prevention

In many parts of the world, preventable cancers are claiming the lives of women simply because they lack access to basic screenings and early treatment. Cervical and breast cancer are among the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in women across low- and middle-income countries, where healthcare systems often fail to provide even the most essential preventive care. In sub-Saharan Africa, cervical cancer is the number one cause of cancer death among women, despite being highly preventable. Globally, 84% of new cervical cancer cases and nearly 90% of related deaths occur in low-resource settings.

We are working to change that. Through our Women’s Cancer Prevention Program, we offer free cervical cancer screening, treatment for precancerous lesions, HPV vaccinations, and clinical breast exams. To date, we’ve screened and treated over 2,800 women, providing critical care that saves lives and supports early detection.

Early intervention is the most effective tool we have. With access to education, screening, and timely treatment, these cancers can be caught early or prevented entirely. Our goal is not only to save lives but also to empower women with the care and knowledge they deserve.

Medical Training

Many underserved communities face challenges in accessing sufficient healthcare resources and equipment, which can impact the quality and availability of medical care. Without proper training and tools, even the most dedicated local providers face obstacles in delivering the best care possible.

At XO World Project Foundation, we believe sustainable impact starts with equipping local professionals to lead. That’s why every mission includes hands-on medical training for surgeons, nurses, nurse midwives, and medical students, designed to strengthen their skills, boost clinical confidence, and improve patient outcomes. Each U.S.-based surgeon is paired with a local surgeon for the duration of the mission, fostering collaboration and skill-building in real-time surgical settings.

Our Cervical Cancer Prevention Program also provides specialized training for nurses and midwives based on WHO guidelines for low-resource settings. After certification, participants receive screening tools and medical supplies to continue providing life-saving care in their own communities.

In addition to training, we donate medical and educational equipment, from surgical tools and diagnostic kits to teaching materials, ensuring that the knowledge gained can be applied immediately and sustainably. By investing in local providers, we’re not just treating patients—we’re building stronger, more self-sufficient health systems for the future.
