Cervical Cancer Prevention

The Cervical cancer prevention program provides screening for cervical cancer and treatment for pre-cancerous lesions,
to date we have screened and treated over 2000 women.
Vaccination against HPV, screening, and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions is the, most effective way to prevent cervical cancer. Unfortunately, women living in low- and middle-income countries are at extreme risk of getting cervical cancer due to a lack of access to effective preventive healthcare and treatment.

In total 84% of the new cases and between 87-90% of deaths occur in Low and Middle-Income Countries.

Sadly, in areas of Sub-Saharan Africa cervical cancer is the number one leading cause of cancer death for women.

Basic pediatric medical care clinics have provided hundreds of children with essential medical care and treatment
for common infections, growth and development evaluation, parental education, and vaccinations.

Hands on training

Healthcare professional development and education, for each mission we provide hands-on training for surgeons, nurses, and nurse midwives to improve their current practice through education. For example, each surgeon on the US team is paired with a local surgeon throughout the length of the medical mission. The Cervical cancer prevention program provides training for local nurses and nurse midwives on proper screening techniques and treatment protocols recommended by the WHO specifically designed for low-resource settings in addition the trained nurses and midwives after certification are provided with the screening tools to carry out their practice in the field.
